What is LPA?

LPA means Lakh Per Annum — i.e. salary in lakhs (₹1,00,000) per year. It is the standard way Indian job offers and salary discussions quote annual pay (e.g. 10 LPA = ₹10 lakh per year).

LPA full form

LPA = Lakh Per Annum. One lakh = ₹1,00,000. So 12 LPA = ₹12,00,000 per year (₹1 lakh per month before tax).

How to convert LPA to monthly salary

Divide by 12 for gross monthly salary. Your in-hand (take-home) is lower after tax, EPF, and other deductions. Use a salary calculator to get the exact in-hand from any LPA.

Common LPA examples

  • 5 LPA = ₹5 lakh per year ≈ ₹41,667 gross per month
  • 10 LPA = ₹10 lakh per year ≈ ₹83,333 gross per month
  • 20 LPA = ₹20 lakh per year ≈ ₹1,66,667 gross per month
